Well-child visits and vaccines

The AAP schedule: 1 week, 1 month, 2, 4, 6, 9, 12, 15, 18, 24, 30, and 36 months, then annually. Every visit tracks growth, milestones, and safety. Not every visit includes shots — 9 and 30 months are typically vaccine-free. Major vaccine visits are 2, 4, 6, 12, 15, 18, and 24 months. The combined vaccines protect against DTaP, Hib, IPV (polio), PCV, rotavirus, HepB, HepA, MMR, chickenpox, and flu. Side effects — mild fever, fussiness, warm injection site — are common for 24–48 hours. Bring a written list of questions each visit. Sleep, feeding, behavior, screen time, and childcare concerns all fit. Well-visits are billed differently from sick visits, so it's the right time for non-urgent conversations.
