Traveling to malaria-endemic areas during pregnancy is risky. Malaria in pregnancy can cause severe illness, miscarriage, preterm birth, and low birth weight. Many anti-malarial medications are not safe during pregnancy. If travel is unavoidable, consult a travel medicine specialist.
