Bonding with your baby in utero
Small daily rituals — talking, music, gentle belly massage — that build the habit.
Bonding during pregnancy varies a lot person to person. Some parents feel deeply connected from the moment of the positive test; others don't feel a real bond until weeks after birth. Both are normal, not indicators of the relationship to come.
Small daily rituals help build a habit of attention. Talk to your bump during your commute, play the same song each night, gently massage lotion into the belly, or narrate your day out loud. Baby can hear you from around 25 weeks.
Even 5–10 minutes a day softens the emotional distance many parents feel in early pregnancy. If bonding still feels absent by mid-pregnancy and you're worried about it, that's a valuable thing to mention to your provider — sometimes it points to prenatal depression, which is very treatable.
