At week 32, your baby is about 42-43 cm long and weighs 1700-1800 grams. They have now reached the weight of a large melon or a pineapple. The biggest development this week is your baby rapidly filling up their fat stores under the skin. Detailed Description: Immunity Transfer: Your baby cannot produce their own antibodies yet. This week, antibodies from your blood begin to pass heavily to the baby through the placenta. This is the borrowed defense system that will protect them against illnesses during the first months after birth. Dreams and Sleep: Your baby can now dream in their sleep (REM sleep). They can also fully open and close their eyes and react to changes in light around them. Hardening Skeleton: Their bones have now hardened significantly, but the skull bones remain soft and flexible to pass easily through the birth canal.
Your BodyDiaphragm and Blood
Your uterus is now well above your belly button and is pressing against your rib cage. This is a stage where your body is reaching its full capacity. Detailed Overview:
  • Peak blood volume: Your blood volume has increased by 40-50% compared to before pregnancy. This increase is necessary to nourish your baby, but it may cause your heart to beat faster and increase how much you sweat.
  • Shortness of breath: As your growing uterus pushes your lungs upward, taking deep breaths can become difficult. Once your baby moves down into the birth position (usually around weeks 34-36), your breathing will feel easier again.
  • Braxton Hicks contractions: You may notice your belly suddenly tightening from time to time. These are your uterus practicing for labor; they are painless and irregular.
Nutrition & HealthKüçük Porsiyonlar, Büyük Enerji
Since your uterus is pressing against your stomach, eating large meals at once can become quite challenging. It is time to update your nutrition strategy for week 32.
  • Heartburn (Reflux): To prevent stomach acid from moving up into your esophagus, plan for 6 small meals instead of 3 large ones. Try to avoid eating right before bedtime.
  • Calcium and Omega-3: As your baby’s bones harden and brain development speeds up this week, stay consistent with your calcium (yogurt, cheese) and Omega-3 (fish, walnuts) intake.
  • Fluid Intake: The best way to reduce edema (swelling) is to drink more water. Water helps your body flush out excess salt.
Preparation & ShoppingHospital Bag & Nursery
You have reached the weeks where it is best to have everything ready to go. Having your bag packed and waiting will give you peace of mind for whenever the big moment arrives.
  • Hospital Bag: Place your bag by the door, packed with button-down nightgowns for yourself, and bodysuits, diapers, and a coming-home outfit for your baby.
  • Car Seat Installation: This week, learn how to properly secure the infant car seat in your car and give it a practice run before the big day.
  • Baby Nursery: If the nursery is ready, now is the perfect time to wash baby clothes with fragrance-free detergent, iron them, and put them away.
Weekly TipKick and Movement
Tracking your baby's movements provides the most natural and quickest insight into their well-being.
  • How to Track: At the same time each day (preferably after dinner), lie on your left side in a quiet spot. We expect you to feel at least 10 different movements (kicks, rolls, or flutters) within 2 hours.
  • Reduced Movement: As your baby's space gets tighter, movements may not feel as large as before, but they should still happen just as often. If you notice a significant decrease in movement, try eating something sugary, continue tracking, and contact your doctor if necessary.
